Tips:

  • GPEDIT.MSC. Testing ADM templates for domain use is easily accomplished by using the Group Policy Editor on a Windows XP Professional desktop. GPEDIT.MSC from the Run command will launch this. Right-Click on the 'Administrative Templates' of either class to add/remove ADM files.
  • Filtered View. When using Windows XP Professional Group Policy Snap-in to review your custom templates, any setting which can not be fully managed (removed from registry when policy is not configured) will not be viewed by defaul. From the View menu, select Filtering and remove the check from the 'Only show policy setting which can be fully managed.'

Chapters are in sections on registry overview and the registry in management and deployment. Honeycutt has written several books on the Windows registry.
